Stephanie Bloom is accustomed to serving as cultural bridge. As an artist trained at New York’s Fashion Institute of Technology and a former owner of a commercial business she is comfortable building understanding between people with varying perspectives.

For her latest installation, the solo show “It’s Not Easy Being Green” at the Rogue Space in Chelsea, Stephanie took her inspiration from water to create an installation fostering a dialogue on man’s relationship to his environment.

“I began with the concept of water and marshes,” Blooms notes of the installation. “Then man imposes himself, crowding out nature with houses. The ultimate result is my pollution domes which contain tiny dioramas on the inside, such as one of a Native American, of what becomes lost or obscured through our make it-use it-throw it away mindset.”

In addition to previous solo shows at the Graphic Eye in Port Washington, NY, Stephanie has exhibited in Miami’s Art Basel and taken part in BWAC Outdoor Sculpture Show “Garden of Delights,” in 2006. She has works shown at the Rockford Museum in Illinois and the Islip Art Museum among others.

Her newest venture is Stephaniebloom.com. “Of course, as an artist I want to create a connection with the viewer, but actual dialogue in the past was limited to a show’s opening night. With the Internet, I can reach so many more people, gain new insight and channel that energy back into art.”

I am an artist who mainly works with acrylic and oil paints. Through abstraction, I create intense personal moments created by means of rules and omissions, acceptance and refusal, luring the viewer round and round in circles.

My paintings don’t reference any recognisable form. The results are deconstructed to the extent that meaning is shifted and possible interpretation becomes multifaceted.

This style allows me to always be in the moment. Since it’s all intuitive, I don’t think about the next brush stroke, mark, etc until I finish the current action. What develops from this even surprises me at times.

My latest body of work, “Perfectly Imperfect“ explores the  question, what is beauty? Instead of trying to hide those imperfections, embrace them, accent them, letting the world know that beauty isn’t perfection but rather lies in the uniqueness of each individual. My intention is to create beautiful works of art, full of unique imperfections that help add to the overall beauty of the work.

The road that took me to realize that I indeed was an artist at heart, was non-traditional, to say the least.

Although I have been drawn to art since I was an adolescent and have been increasingly involved in the craft....as an observer, fan, collector, etc., and I patronize/support local galleries, art shows and other activities, I didn't have an awareness of my own ability as an artist until later in life.

Art was always my hobby but it took me a while to realize that I could add another dimension to my hobby by trying my hand at actually painting something. I went to an art supply store and bought some materials and went to work. I have not looked back.

I am self-taught but have very strong influences from some great artists. My main influences in art have been from some of the great masters such as Picasso, Condo, Wilfredo Lam, Basquiat, Kandinsky, De Kooning amongst many others. I'm very drawn to their styles and I think it's evident in my work. I like to combine bright "in your face colors" with shapes and designs.

My art continues to evolve as I explore different subjects, thoughts, and perspectives. I believe my passion for my craft comes through in my work and I see my work evolving even more as I explore different mediums.

Rebecca “Row” Kiefer is a New York, NY based graphic designer, illustrator and photographer. New York City is a very crowded and fast-paced city to live in. Therefore, Rebecca often focuses her illustrations on quiet, peaceful, or even humorous moments inspired by her day-to-day that break the tension of an otherwise stressful environment. Rebecca also has a psychology background, so many of the themes in her artwork focus on concepts such as positive psychology, self care, relationships and love. Rebecca also loves creating artwork inspired by her New York City environment.

In addition to art, Rebecca enjoys traveling the world. Her favorite location she’s visited so far is Phuket, Thailand.

Overall, Rebecca loves meeting new people, learning new stories, and using her artwork to express herself.

There’s a common misconception that art is not a feasible career. Since I was younger, I received messages from the people around me that artists were “starving” or that art was merely a hobby and that it was not a realistic career goal. I remember being able to tune those messages out completely until the age of 18. I was so confident in my photography and in my growing fine art skills. I wanted nothing more than to become a professional photographer and there was no societal fear that was going to stop me from achieving my dreams. My confidence was rooted in my passion for creating and the sheer enjoyment I got out of practicing my craft. I often found myself in flow when I was creating art. Flow is a concept from Positive Psychology that describes a mental state where a person experiences so much passion and enjoyment out of what they’re doing that they completely lose sense of time. Flow allowed me to stay up all hours of the night finishing a painting and not even realize I had done so until I looked at the clock.

I experienced my first lapse in artistic confidence when I entered NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts as a Photography & Imaging major. I was surrounded by a sea of talented artists who were just as good and better than I was. I had to turn in artwork every week and receive critique on my work as a part of a 4-hour long studio. I felt a complete lack of inspiration, even though I was turning out a prolific amount of artwork. Amidst all this, I felt a pressure to pursue more lucrative avenues of photography (i.e., fashion, commercial, etc.) even though I had no interest in that style of art. Ultimately, I found myself very unhappy in my major and decided I should switch to another subject.

Because of my deep interest in portraiture and storytelling through art, I decided to study Psychology. I felt as though getting to learn more about the inner workings of humans would broaden my skillset and inform a greater inspiration for my artwork. I instantly fell in love with Psychology and found myself creating now only when I felt inspired to create something. I was no longer bound by deadlines, grades, or inevitable comparisons to my peers. I felt more confident than ever in my artwork and I also found a new passion in Psychology.

WHY WEAVE?

I make art because I am compelled to create; it is my calling. I was born with this inclination; I have been making things since childhood, primarily using cloth, yarn, and thread. It has become my life's journey to explore the depths of fiber as both contemporary art and functional, utilitarian art products. Weaving is a meditation which provides satisfaction with tangible results.

Textiles appeal to me for their tactile, maleable properties with infinite opportunities for artistic expression. Fiber art encompasses processes within processes with endless variations (see my Home page), a never ending upward spiral of invention fueled by imagination. Weaving has existed since before the beginning of time as a staple of life in all cultures across all continents.

Weaving is our DNA; the strands are woven together. It is literally the fabric of life, the thread of connectivity.

Textiles have long been assigned to the realm of women - which I fully embrace. The matriarchal system which existed in

pre-patriarchal epochs features often in my work.  It focuses on the innate strengths of women, and acknowledges

the Divine Mother Goddess as the universal force of creation. She, in all her many global iterations as

Goddesses and Saints, is who guides and inspires. It is She who is Creation.

This construct informs much of my woven art works as subliminal messaging. I draw inspiration from delightful obscure

mythologies, occult, esoteric practices, long hidden from ruthless eyes, and the obvious splendor of Mother Nature.

Nature is Creation in action; it is fierce, mighty, powerful, delicate, and beautiful.

We need these things to feel whole. This is my underlying principle to art making,

 to deliver messages of the Divine Mother Goddess in aesthetic formats, to instill wonder, wholeness;

to celebrate the elevated emotions generated when in the presence of beauty.

MY COLLECTIONS

Like musical notations, weaving patterns are more than just decorative; they are imbued with coded meanings.

My Tapestry + FIber Art  collections contain artworks I have designed using ageless methods of disseminating messages through patterning. I perceive it as coded messages of women's wisdom, ancient secrets of herstory.

The Money Weavings, my extensive collection of mixed media incorporating shredded one hundred dollar bills, lifts the veil of societal illusions, posing such questions as, What is the value of money? Do we consume consciously or conspicuously? Why?

Mixed Media is another path I pursue for the pleasure of creative expression in art works, woven with exotic yarns and  unexpected  materials. These works are visual delights, neo-contemporary explorations into realms beyond tradition while creating within a traditional methodology. Often whimsical, art for art's sake, my Mixed Media artworks are designed to make us happy.

Because art can be fun.

Home Decor and Women's Wear are two separate categories that satisfy my need, as a Capricorn, to be practical.

Textiles continue to fulfill functional needs while exuding beauty, glamour, status, weath -

And so I develop distinctive products both decorative and useful for our homes and for us to wear.

“The idea behind this quest is to engage in a dialogue that leads to inspiring each other. I see artists as the ambassadors of hope establishing conversations that help to counterbalance the anxiety and uncertainty prevalent in our times. Helping to ease the processing of ideas and stimulating the creative self to have edifying responses to our everyday life; subsequently, improving the way we treat each other.”

— SAMARA

Lorna Samara Ash was born in Bogota, Colombia; she lives & works in Miami, Florida. She is a resident artist at FountainHead Studios, Little River, Florida. Ash graduated as Valedictorian from The University of Florida through New World School of the Arts (2008) where she earned a Dual BFA in Painting and Electronic Intermedia along with a Minor in Art History.

Ash is an interdisciplinary artist that works across mediums with power & frailty as a subject matter. Through her work, she hopes to create a space for dialogue and exploration of the complexities of these two concepts. Incorporating painting, photography, and installation into her practice; Ash draws inspiration from personal experiences of potentiality and weakness.

In her new body of work “Transcendence,” Ash used AI intelligence to generate digital image-tiles via a prompt describing spirituality.   The printed version of these tiles are transferred to canvas, marks are added, and paper, fabric, & roots are applied making this physical-act an allegory to human existence.

The AI image generator serves as a metaphor for the potential that our consciousness has to transcend beyond current limitations and serves as a reminder that an AI image generator’s output is ultimately an amalgam of human-made images.

In the long run, Ash would like her work to bring to mind the deeper connections people have with each other in an evolving technological world.

Ash’s work has been part of numerous exhibitions; selected shows include Channing Tatum’s: MML LIVE & Steven Soderbergh’s Singani 63, Buick Building Design District, Miami, FL (2022), Sagamore The Art Hotel, South Beach, Florida (2010); Museum of Art & Design - Freedom Tower, Downtown Miami, Florida (2008), Broward-County Public Library, Ft. Lauderdale, Florida (2006), Finger Lakes GrassRoots of Music & Dance, Ithaca, New York (2019), The Lightbox at Goldman Warehouse, Wynwood, Florida (2015), and Fountainhead Studios Exhibit, Little River, Florida (2022).

Her artwork can be found in national & international collections (selected art collections: Joan Blackman Private Collection, Susie & Walid Wahab Private Collection, Cricket Taplin Collection, De La Cruz Collection, & Cisneros Fontanals Art Foundation).

Ash was the recipient of various awards including the Nall Art Association European Scholarship, Saint-Paul-de-Vence, France, New World School of the Arts Full Scholarship, Downtown Miami, Siggraph Space-Time Competition winner, Los Angeles, California, The Mickey Wolfson Jr. Center Best Drawing Award, Miami, Florida , USA Funds Access to Education winner, among others.

Looking back over fifty years to when the first of these works came into being is a dizzying experience.  The trail from beginning to now covers a lot of time and space.

Out of choice I worked in comparative isolation from other artists but not out of touch with contemporary art and ideas.  It was exciting working at what seemed to be the edge of new visions: filtering ideas through the history of art in an attempt to find myself, in my time, to make works that would speak of the time.

Roni Lynn Doppelt has been creating various forms of art since the early 1980’s. She began with acrylic and watercolor abstract paintings and subsequently expanded into colorful creations on glass. She found a special talent for sculpture and has enjoyed creating numerous bronze pieces as well as alabaster and marble sculptures. She has excelled with mixed-media heart collages and abstract scapes of all kinds inspired by her abiding love of travel. In a recent interview, Roni Lynn said, “My artwork is all about what I value most. Love of family and friends - love of life itself - appreciation of beauty - and love of color are all very important to me, and that is the reason they are always prevalent in my work. “One of her favorite exhibitions was being featured in a show at The Armory Art Center in West Palm Beach. It was a show called Three Generations Of Love And Art and included sculptures and paintings by Roni Lynn, her daughter, Stephanie Doppelt Fisher, and her father, Stanley M. Katz. EVER SINCE I TOOK MY FIRST PHOTO AT THE AGE OF 15, I WAS INTRIGUED BY THE FACT THAT I COULD STOP THE PERPETUAL MOTION OF TIME BY CAPTURING A MOMENT ON FILM.

IT WAS NOT UNTIL LATER ON IN MY LIFE THAT I CAME TO REALIZE THAT ALL THOSE SEEMINGLY INSIGNIFICANT MOMENTS WERE NOT INDIVIDUAL ENTITIES, BUT THAT THEY TOLD OF EXPERIENCES, INFLUENCES AND EVENTS THAT WERE PART OF A WHOLE WORLD, MY WORLD.

UNKNOWINGLY I HAVE TOLD A STORY, CREATED A VISUAL DIARY OF MY LIFE. THROUGH MY IMAGES I HAVE BECOME THE SUBJECT OF MY OWN PHOTOGRAPHY. I BEGAN TO OBSERVE THE PROFOUND ROLE MY SUBCONSCIOUS WAS PLAYING. THE AWARENESS OF MY CREATIVE PROCESS, REVEALED BY THIS REALIZATION, HAS INCITED ME IN LIVING AND OBSERVING THE PASSING PRESENT, FULLY AWARE THAT TODAY'S CIRCUMSTANCES AND EVENTS WILL SHAPE AND BECOME THE IMAGES OF TOMORROW.

BORN AND RAISED NEXT TO THE SEA IN COLOMBIA I HAVE BEEN SAILING SINCE VERY YOUNG, WITH NO PORTS ONLY HORIZONS I HAVE LEARNED THERE IS NO DESTINY,  JUST THE JOURNEY, AND MY CONSTANT, THE INFINITE SEA.

For this Brazilian-American artist, expression through visual media connects with inner consciousness as an inspiration to be transmitted to the receiver. Her creations are multidisciplinary fusions of virtual reality, photography, lighting, movement, dimension, painting, sculpture and display... sometimes performed live.  It is her steadfast commitment to her own evolution and the evolution of her art that allows her to transcend the individual disciplines and just create. She is a Miami-based professional photographer, author and exhibiting visionary artist that is illuminated by nature, permaculture and the healing arts.

Alissa Christine is a pioneering virtual reality artist. She began VR painting live at Tamarindo Art Wave Festival in 2018 and continues to create 3-dimensional vibrating sculptures of light to be interactively experienced. Alissa's joy is sharing the magic of light, energy and information, congruent with her wellness practices in the healing arts... Some of her paintings are conceptualized with an intention of guiding the explorer toward states of elevation... and they may also discover hidden treasures inside and out.

In 2015 Alissa self-published a photography coffee-table book entitled “i love miami 365”, a 366 page, daily yearlong meditative journey of gratitude, celebrating the soul of Miami from the inside out. In it, her love for the everyday beauty is on display as an offering to the world.

Her illuminated lightbox mixed media series, “miami music chroma” is a 3-dimensional lightbox project that was commissioned for display in each of the guest rooms at The Marlin Hotel in Miami Beach. It is a contemporary body of work featuring her original photos of musicians, producers and DJs combined with illustration and light, encased with translucent colors.

I am a Miami based artist born  in Cumberland, RI. My artwork has been described as urban constructivism. I creates intricate layered paintings with unusual materials and my own altered images. Working with a combination of photography and assemblage, the  constructing  often  suggests the very materials of which the subjects are made.  I incorporate various mediums to create texture and meaning. I manipulate perspective and weave patterns in unexpected compositions to amplify feelings and spaces. The Bauhaus concept, architecture, history, space,  physics, and philosophy inspire my creative pursuit.

I graduated  from The Museum School Boston and Tufts s University where I was a 5th year Traveling Scholar Recipient. This school was an amazing experience for me that formed my development as  an artist. Encouraged to try all disciplines; I  became aware of all things being potential vehicles for the creative. This series of artworks explore the Universe and its unity in the infinite diversity of elements. They describe the multiplicity of the Universe depicting. 1) Its juxtapositions between chaos and harmony. 2) Its constant change and movement. 3) Each of its parts containing the whole. The combination of all this components creates a visual plurality that the artist calls: Energies.

The variety of elements in these paintings is several energies vibrating simultaneously. These energies of the Universe are described through highly saturated colors, variety of gestural brushstrokes and shapes, a sense of overall rhythmic movement and the illusion of tridimensional space.

These compositions have two readings: A first one that comes like a blow, in which all areas clamor in unison at the top of their lungs. And a second one when the viewer realizes that each painting is in fact the sum of its parts, what is to say, of various smaller paintings, both possible and openly suggested by the work in question.

These artworks represent a transition between a more controlled process to work to a more adventurous one. They express something very emotional and personal in feeling, not just the evolution of an idea. They are very spontaneous and with not so much strategy.

This unconscious way to work allowed the artist to connect with the act of paint more directly, with less interference of the conscious mind. Multiplicity of graffisims, brushstrokes, lines, splashes, drippings and textures, are expressed all of them simultaneously

This series of paintings unifies oppositions and energizes a blend of rational and emotional notions. They juxtapose humble elements with big gestures. Several moments are visualized and expressed with diverse techniques

My work is about the layers of life and art history, seeking in it a connection between art aesthetics and social consciousness. American sensibilities have influenced my life, the hues of my country found in the colors of my art. I like to bring an awareness of new directions and individual inventiveness. The evolution of technology has always paralleled my work throughout its development. From the original copy machine to today’s iPad, the influence of electronics permeates my process. Through life experience, I incorporate visual, emotional, and psychological impressions and feed them into my art.

My art, whether it is photography, sculpture, or paintings, has always been a visual interpretation of my internal landscape, which is significantly influenced by external landscapes. Therefore, this collection of work is an indirect reflection of my colorful, turbulent home, Miami. Miami, where multi-cultural history and the future clash on a daily basis, is a luminous kaleidoscope of raw, sincere emotions and harsh realities; urban tension mixed with profound beauty, compassion and optimism. Evidence of this interpretation can be found in the canvases of “iPaint on my iPad”.

Arts expressionistic patrimony has significantly marked mans vision and everyday life since the latter part of the 19th Century. The liberating act conferred an unprecedented plastic autonomy to color and shape is the expressive complement of a thematic that’s very much centered on society and the problems of existence. Anguish, lack of communication, alienation and desecration of myths about modern life and progress are among the motives that inspired the expressionist rebellion.

Expressionistic poetry is linked in different ways to primitive art, popular representation forms and even children’s art because its there where an "uncontaminated" source of expression can be found, where emotions and the exploration of the most revealing interior experiences are given free reign. Perhaps that explains the autobiographical aspects of the works of many expressionists, or at least, the active presence of personal experiences in thematic selection. Rudolf Kohn’s paintings are intense and dramatic but with fine touches of humor and great irony. The way in which he adopts expressionist codes seems to reflect his origins peculiar cultural symbiosis: son of a German father and Colombian mother. His works combine rationality with precision in the drawing of exalted fantasies and the magic of someone who has lived the uncommon as part of daily life. This artist’s critical sensibility touches with equal questioning dosages on aspects of society’s realities, which range from a sort of an expression of Caribbean regional customs to the big subjects of alienation and existential perplexity. The subjects of violence, machismo, the mechanization of human life and death itself are represented with the peculiar sharpness of someone who observes reality with a mix of involvement and distance. In much of Kohn’s works there is a strong presence of graphic elements that along with the caricaturization of its characters and the explosive use of color make up images that are very similar to the way in which signs and illustration were reformulated by Pop Art. This is an interesting fact because it contrasts with the actual artists other types of more Baroque and informal painting, in which color stains, canvas scratches, oil drips and the general conception of composition propose a more distressful look at man in what seems to be a permanent homage to Edward Munch "The Scream." In fact, Kohn is an artist whose aesthetical and social motives come in a broad fan of different tones, accents and symbols that, despite their differences, always have to do with a critical and demystifying look at today’s culture. More than likely faces, his characters seem to be an alter ego that is revealed as a mask and simulacrum; however, a sort of compassionate lyricism peeks out sometimes, which is irony’s other aspect. That’s why his scenes may come to be grotesque or, on the contrary, project an image in which figures show an overwhelming abandonment in dehumanized atmosphere where everything even a flower seems artificial. Somehow, the ionized situation moves the artist and that is reflect in his level of commitment to this subject, in how he identifies himself with those beings transmuted by his imagination into symbols of the human condition. What’s heterodox is not only found in the subject matter or in his treatment of plastic; Kohn is an artist who knows no boundaries and who resorts to any expressive recourse as he tries to communicate to us not a particular anecdote but an artistic event. Ever since his first works, the experimentation with techniques, media and unconventional props showed the need to find symbols that transmitted an artistic idea powerfully and originally. Stucco, wood, jute sacks, collages or wooden boxes with personal objects or pictorial effects are among the alternatives the artists chose to show the semantic value of materials and props. If the presence of wheels, transmission pulleys and other mechanical devices that articulate the human body is a direct way of representation the substitution of the soul or the spiritual by technology an image that’s characteristic of the "Bicharros" series-, the other constant symbol in Kohn’s works is the transcendental and omnipresent eye. The eye- according to the artist himself- is the earthly incarnation of Gods presence and shows that that everything is lost. Finally, Kohn’s painting is also an exploration of those contrasts between authenticity and alienation, between what’s human and divine, between what’s transcendental and daily. And along that path of searches he has conquered the language of original codes that manage to have a more emotional impact on spectators than the reality itself that they reveal.

Carol Jazzar Miami Beach Artist

Becoming an artist has been a long and slow process, with my creative journey starting in childhood.  In our backyard, in France where I grew up, I would spend afternoons making elaborate dresses and headpieces with the garden leaves and flowers. At the time, this was simply called “play”; but that first creative impulse redefined and manifested itself when I started an alternative wear clothing line called “Chains Addiction”. I designed and hand-made unique items using metal supplies, mesh, rings and hooks, that I sold to individual and selected stores.

Upon moving to Miami to pursue my design work, I came across the visual art world when I rented a room from a print dealer. Through the artworks  my landlord was selling - Warhol,  Lichtenstein, Mimmo Rotella, etc -, I became familiar with and acquired  knowledge about Art and the love for it.  A few years later, I stopped my design work and began curating exhibits, first in unorthodox venues, bars, restaurants, furniture stores, then. finally  my ‘own space’, in a free standing converted garage adjacent to my house.  This unique and creative project soon became popular among other leading galleries in the Miami art community. I represented a tight roster of artists, including Jen Stark, Robert Huff, Shoshanna Weinberger, KUHL & LEYTON, David Rohn, Jorge Pantoja….some of them have now attained national recognition.

And as life has a way to direct us to whenever is necessary, a recent period of upheaval prompted me to close the gallery and to refocus on my own creative work. I resumed writing and photography and began a new chapter dedicated to exploring and further developing my creative potential.

Italian artist Annalù Boretto's

Italian artist Annalù Boretto's dreamy sculptures enchant onlookers with hyper-realistic water splashes and brilliant colors. Born in Venice in 1976, the artist worked for years to develop her style of resinglass sculpture that evokes an imaginative journey by using intricately placed natural elements suspended in time. Focusing on texture and illusion, Annalù undoubtedly incorporates her life on the lagoon into her works. For several years, her captivating pieces have been developing an international following. A disciple of metamorphosis, intent on penetrating the mysteries of creation, Annalù assembles incongruous elements such as resins and paper, bark and glass wool, bitumen and sand, cement and roots, to create new realities - worlds suspended and imaginary architecture where alchemy is lightness. Her work features intensely lyrical and evocative attributes with exalted symbolic allure.

Alexandra Gestin

Alexandra Gestin was born in 1967 in a small town in Guerande, France. As a young woman, she soon washed away to places far from her native Loire. During these fabulous trips around the world, her passion for art developed. While in North Africa, she discovered her love of sculpture, while Asia filled her mind with imagery. A trip to Tokyo introduced Gestin to infamous sumo fighters. Already sensitive to the curves of children's bodies, the young artist was dazzled by the exuberant silhouettes of the Japanese wrestlers. Since then, those half-gods have never left her artistic world. Gestin eventually settled in Belgium, where she felt at ease and could speak freely in her art. The gesture in her work is beautiful, generous, and voluptuous. True to her style, she creates relief and dépaisseur - flat drawing does not fit her process. She has an artist's true instinct, as she loves contrasting intensity and delicacy, rigidity and vulnerability. Her sculptures are part of numerous private collections worldwide, including Europe, the USA, Morocco, the United Arab Emirates, Mexico, Hong Kong, Singapore, and Japan.

ALAIN GODON

Alain Godon was born in 1964 in Bourges, France. In 1986, he moved to the United Kingdom to earn his living as a pavement graffiti artist. He soon began a series of new works, which he referred to as "Childish Art ", experimenting with oil painting. Around the same time, Godon also started sculpting in bronze, using this medium as a means of expression for the way in which he views the world; he infuses his subject matter with a childish inspiration and through the eyes of his own particular and unique humor. In 2022, Godon created a new technique called QT (“Cutie”), involving three-dimensional artwork created with multiple layers of cut paper. Alain Godon has exhibited in New York, Miami, Los Angeles, Aspen, Denver, Amsterdam, and Bali, as well as the 2001 French National Assembly. Markowicz Fine Art is the exclusive agent for Alain Godon in the USA.
