Alexandra Gestin

Alexandra Gestin was born in 1967 in a small town in Guerande, France. As a young woman, she soon washed away to places far from her native Loire. During these fabulous trips around the world, her passion for art developed. While in North Africa, she discovered her love of sculpture, while Asia filled her mind with imagery. A trip to Tokyo introduced Gestin to infamous sumo fighters. Already sensitive to the curves of children's bodies, the young artist was dazzled by the exuberant silhouettes of the Japanese wrestlers. Since then, those half-gods have never left her artistic world. Gestin eventually settled in Belgium, where she felt at ease and could speak freely in her art. The gesture in her work is beautiful, generous, and voluptuous. True to her style, she creates relief and dépaisseur - flat drawing does not fit her process. She has an artist's true instinct, as she loves contrasting intensity and delicacy, rigidity and vulnerability. Her sculptures are part of numerous private collections worldwide, including Europe, the USA, Morocco, the United Arab Emirates, Mexico, Hong Kong, Singapore, and Japan.
